It's Wednesday, the final day of November and meteorological autumn, and A WHOLE LOT sunnier and calmer than was Tuesday with its 60 mph wind gusts, 17 ft waves on Lake Michigan and biting 44-degree temperature. We missed receiving 10" of snow which accompanied the windy storm by just 116 miles! That's the amount of snow which came down, slashing visibilities to under a quarter mile at its height Tue afternoon, in Peru IN. What a month this has been for wind! We poured through Chicago's wind November wind data back to 1998 and found this month's 11.9 mph average wind velocity is the strongest for any November over the past 13 years (at least)! There hasn't been a November which has registered five days with 40+ mph wind gusts here in 6 years and the month has registered 175% more than the average number of days with 10+ mph average wind speeds since 1998. Here's a NWS analysis of where the storm deposited its accumulating snow.
