Saqib Wattoo SERVICE TO HUMANITY....Part I
By the grace of ALLAH, we have completed quick review of Five Pillars of Islam. Whatever has been discussed is not everything but just a small portion only. Its just a spark. Now its your duty to explore ways to learn more. How can you do it? You need to buy Holy Qur’an, Hadees of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with Translation in the language you can best understand, and also Life History of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) plus Arabian History. Be careful !!!! Never Trust on-line Data. If possible try to learn Arabic language. That will support you a lot in learning Holy Qur’an and Hadees. Before you start reading, pray to ALLAH, “O MY LORD!! I know nothing, Please teach me useful knowledge and guide me to the straight path recognized by you. Holy Qur’an states in chapter At-Tahrem [66:6]
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قُوا أَنفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ نَارًا وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ عَلَيْهَا مَلَائِكَةٌ غِلَاظٌ شِدَادٌ لَا يَعْصُونَ اللَّهَ مَا أَمَرَهُمْ وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُونَ
“O ye who believe! save yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is Men and Stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who flinch not (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allah, but do (precisely) what they are commanded”
As we can see from above Qur’anic verse, our major task in this life is to save ourselves and our families from the torment of Hell Fire. How can we do it? We need to learn the teachings of ISLAM, practice and help our family members also to do the same. If we do, (1) We have completed our responsibility (2) We will qualify for rewards from ALLAH whenever they practice any good deeds.
On the other hand, if we don’t do (1) we will be held accountable before ALLAH on the day of resurrection for failing in our responsibility (2) our family members will also hold us responsible for not guiding them. Please read chapter Al-Abas (80:32 to 42) a brief description of the situation on the day of QIAYAMAT is mentioned.
For any building, first is (a) the Foundation, then (b) Pillars and then (c) the Superstructure.
We have seen (a) the Foundation of Islamic Building, which is EMAN or Faith in ALLAH. Next, we have also seen (b) Four Pillars of Islam like…(1) Prayer (2) Fasting (3) ZAKAT and (4) HAJJ.
Now let us proceed further, towards Superstructure. In other words it means, service to humanity. While giving instructions to serve humanity, Holy Qur’an in chapter AN-Nisa (4:36) uses the word “EHSANA” which means “Be Good to them even if they are not Good to You”. If they are not good enough surely they will be losers. But you don’t miss your chance of earning reward from ALLAH only because they are not good to you. If we do so, ALLAH will convert enmity into friendship. As Holy Qur’an quotes in chapter Fussilat [41:34]
وَلَا تَسْتَوِي الْحَسَنَةُ وَلَا السَّيِّئَةُ ادْفَعْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ فَإِذَا الَّذِي بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ عَدَاوَةٌ كَأَنَّهُ وَلِيٌّ حَمِيمٌ
“Nor can goodness and Evil be equal. Repel (Evil) with what is better: Then will he between whom and thee was hatred become as it were thy friend and intimate”. Also any good deed we do, it should be done ONLY to seek the pleasure of Allah as mentioned in Holy Qur’an in chapter Al-Insan [76:9]
إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَاء وَلَا شُكُورًا
(Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks.
When reward is sought from ALLAH, we should not even expect “Thank You” from these people.
Parents are the First category of human beings who deserve service next to ALLAH as the Holy Qur’an quotes in Chapter Al-Isra [17:23]
وَقَضَى رَبُّكَ أَلاَّ تَعْبُدُواْ إِلاَّ إِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا إِمَّا يَبْلُغَنَّ عِندَكَ الْكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَا أَوْ كِلاَهُمَا فَلاَ تَقُل لَّهُمَآ أُفٍّ وَلاَ تَنْهَرْهُمَا وَقُل لَّهُمَا قَوْلاً كَرِيمًا
“Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honor”
